Construction Materials
Modified PTFE
Products of PTFE can be produced with the addition of pigments in any color, surface texture, or coated with special glue. But most important are the additions of fillers which modify the properties of PTFE.
Additions of graphite, carbon, fiberglass and carbon, molybdenum disulfide (MoS2), mica, bronze award increase durability and extend service life of PTFE components in certain applications.
* Appendix 10-40% glass fiber, results in higher hardness, stiffness, lower wear and creep especially at higher temperatures. Used in structural engineering and chemical equipment, the fittings.
* Addition of 5-20% graphite or carbon, increases the conductivity of heat and electricity, abrasion resistance, better antistatic properties and sliding. Application: guides, sliding elements of machines, valve seats.
* Appendix 10-60% increases the hardness of bronze and compressive strength, abrasion resistance. Application of the sleeves and rings engaged, friction bearings and bearing shell.
* Different combinations of these additives, sometimes with mica, MoS2 and carbon fiber ground, are often required in specialized applications, high efficiency.
Modified material gets a distinctive color: white, brown, gray or black.
Safety:
PTFE materials are certified by the quality of care, are physiologically inert and harmless to human health. For many years, these materials are placed in direct contact with foodstuffs (EU guidelines, and FDA) and are widely used in food industry and the production of household appliances.
In case of rain or worn parts should be taken into consideration that the PTFE is completely resistant to biodegradation and may persist long in the environment, and in case of combustion may emit harmful fluorine compounds. Therefore, the waste PTFE should proceed with caution and subject them to recycling or disposal.
